I know trends come and go, but if a trend is coming for all white kitchens, I am not sure I can ever get on it. I just can’t seem to get enough of warm and inviting kitchens like this one we designed in Montclair a few years ago. Thanks @mbacabinetrystudio and @rombough_architecture

We reworked the kitchen design to have an island, opened the kitchen to the front room, and added a bar in the dining area.

These homeowners had a very small dark kitchen. They could not open up the existing kitchen to their dining room because they had a beautiful fireplace they wanted to keep between the two rooms.

I suggested moving their kitchen to their existing living room and opening up the wall between the existing living room and adjacent sunroom to allow the eastern morning light to come in.

We connected the remodeled kitchen/dining/ TV open space to the backyard with glass doors out to a new deck. We added a powder room and mudroom to the first floor. It always feels good to get my clients what they need without having to add an addition.

As you swipe through the progress photos you will see I noted the windows to the backyard on each image for reference since the space changed so dramatically.

A few photos of the design and building process.

The first photo is of me scanning a house with the @scannedwithcanvas app.

After we scan the house, it gets uploaded and modeled three dimensionally into Revit, (the 3-D program we use to design.) This gives us an accurate existing model to start from as we design the proposed remodels and additions.

The next few photos are of some of the 3-D models and 3-D section cuts we use to help inform us how the structure and the plumbing run through the house.

The last few photos are cool shots from site visits during construction.

Definitely not a typical White Kitchen! I really enjoyed working with the homeowners and the way they embrace color! We created some really unique elements in this kitchen such as painting the outside door in the same color of the island and the rich wallpaper colors in the pantry/utility room. We also warmed up the space with some warm wood tones and brass elements. @rombough_architecture did an amazing job on this addition bringing so much natural light into the room and creating a large functional space with plenty of room for storage! It’s always a pleasure working with @manzoconstructionllc who execute the job flawlessly. A big thank you to @kristyna_saja and @designerappliances for the beautiful photos!

My clients wanted a better connection from their kitchen to their backyard. We relocated the kitchen to the back room and opened it up to the dining room. The existing large window got replaced with a 4-panel sliding glass door that connected to the back deck for better access to grilling and entertaining.

The existing kitchen (which was dark, small, and cramped) became a service space for the mudroom, powder room, and pantry.

This type of project is such a great bang for the buck. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.
